Aldebaran

Of the five stars of magnitude 2 and brighter within 6 degrees of the ecliptic, the fifth is Aldebaran, in the constellation Taurus, magnitude 1.0 and 5d 28m from the ecliptic (as of the year 2000 AD). Though it’s farther from the ecliptic than the other four, it’s also the brightest of the five.
