At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD Almighty
from a people tall and smooth-skinned,
from a people feared far and wide,
an aggressive nation of strange speech,
whose land is divided by rivers—
the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion,
the place of the Name of the LORD Almighty.
Isaiah 18:7

A fascinating bit of info from Isaiah. It’s a prophecy that doesn’t seem to be fully understood by anyone.

“At that time.” What time would this be? Well, Isaiah 18 doesn’t seem to be describing a historical event that’s already happened, or historians would have figured it out for us.

So then it must be yet in our future, right?

And who are these mysterious people of strange speech? I don’t know. But look at what they’re doing. It’s clear that their hearts belong to the God of Israel. In response to His swift deliverance of His people from an aggressive enemy, they’re bringing gifts to the Lord God Almighty, to a well-known place in the city of Jerusalem. And interestingly they’re bringing these gifts not to the Temple as we would have expected during most of the time of Israel’s existence since the time of Isaiah – but simply to “Mount Zion.” Well, from our present-day perspective, seeing that there is no Temple on Mount Zion, this actually seems quite reasonable. And we know from numerous prophecies that by the middle of the final 7-year tribulation there will be a Temple there.

So could it be that these gifts are the resources and building materials from which that Temple will be rebuilt?
