“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it (Jesus’ return) is near, right at the door.” Matt 24:32-33
Who knew that we’d be seeing so much fruit from a fig tree that just last fall looked badly diseased, with deadwood and termite damage on all the major branches? Maybe this is just the story of an unexpected bumper crop of figs. But how my heart aches for it to be more than this. May it be a living parable, a parable of restoration, of a new wholeness and fruitfulness of God’s people as we walk with Him daily in joyful expectation of what He’s planning to do in and through us.
